Dollar General Employee ID, also called your EID, is the key to everything at Dollar General. You need it to register for DGME, to log in, to reset your password, and whenever you contact HR. Here is every reliable way to find it, starting with the fastest one that most guides never mention.
Quick Answer
The fastest method is built into the portal itself: open webapps.dolgen.net/dgme2 and use the Look up Employee ID (EID) link on the login page, then verify your identity to retrieve your number. Your EID is also printed on every pay stub, in your hiring paperwork, and on past W2 forms, and your store manager can pull it up in seconds.
Method 1: Use the EID lookup on the login page
Most employees never notice this option, but it is the quickest route when you have no documents in hand.
- Go to webapps.dolgen.net/dgme2, the official DGME login page.
- Find and select the Look up Employee ID (EID) link near the login fields.
- Enter the identity details the lookup asks for, such as your name and other verification information matching your payroll record.
- The system retrieves your Employee ID. Note it somewhere private, then return to the login page and sign in, or head to registration if you have never created an account.
Method 2: Check your pay stub
Your Employee ID is printed on every pay stub. If your online access is already set up, your stubs live on the separate pay stub system, not the main DGME portal. Our pay stub guide shows where to log in and where the ID appears on the stub.
Method 3: Look through your hiring paperwork
Offer letters, onboarding documents, and new hire packets usually list your Employee ID. Also search any emails Dollar General sent you around your start date.
Method 4: Ask your store manager
Managers can pull your Employee ID from the store system in seconds. For brand new employees with no pay stub yet and no luck with the online lookup, this is the most reliable route.
Method 5: Check old W2 or tax documents
If you worked at Dollar General in a previous year, your W2 form and related payroll documents typically show your Employee ID.
Method 6: Call the Employee Response Center
As a last resort, call the ERC at 1 855 275 3447. Have personal details ready, because they verify your identity before releasing any account information.
What your Employee ID looks like
Dollar General Employee IDs are numeric, and most employees sign in with an 8 digit number. If the number you have is shorter and a form rejects it, try adding zeros at the front, because some systems pad shorter IDs with leading zeros.
New hire with no ID yet?
If you were just hired and nothing above works, your onboarding record probably has not been fully processed. EIDs are generated when HR completes your record, which can take until your official start date or shortly after. Ask your hiring manager to confirm your onboarding status. Once you have the number, our DGME registration guide takes you through account setup in five minutes.
Former employee looking for an old ID?
Former employees usually need their EID for tax documents or employment verification. Old pay stubs and W2 forms are your best sources, and the ERC can help after identity verification. Our former employee guide explains what access you still have after leaving and how to get every document you are entitled to.
Keep your Employee ID private
Your EID plus a few personal details is enough for someone to attempt access to your account or run a fake lookup against you. Do not post it publicly or share it in group chats, and treat any call or text asking for it as a scam. Legitimate lookups happen through the official portal, your manager, or the ERC. Nobody from Dollar General will ever ask for your password.
