If you work at Dollar General, you have probably heard coworkers mention Legion when talking about schedules, shift swaps or time off. Many employees search for a separate Legion login or a Legion password and end up confused, because Legion is not a system you sign up for on its own.
Here is the simple truth. Legion is the workforce scheduling system Dollar General uses behind the DGME portal. You reach it through your normal DGME login, not through a separate account. Once you understand that, every schedule task becomes easy.
What is Legion?
Legion is an enterprise workforce management platform that Dollar General uses to build and publish store schedules. When you open the schedule section inside the DGME portal, the system that loads is Legion. It shows your shifts in a weekly calendar, lets you request time off, update your availability and pick up open shifts when your store allows it.
You do not need a new username or password for Legion. Your 8 digit Employee ID and DGME password cover everything.
DGME vs Legion: what each one handles
| Task | DGME portal | Legion |
|---|---|---|
| Pay stubs and W2 forms | Yes (via the pay stub portal) | No |
| Benefits and HR details | Yes | No |
| View upcoming shifts | Entry point | Yes |
| Request time off | Entry point | Yes |
| Swap or pick up shifts | Entry point | Yes |
| Update availability | Entry point | Yes |
Think of DGME as the front door and Legion as the schedule room inside it.
How to open Legion through DGME
Legion has no separate address you need to remember. It sits behind your normal portal login, so the route is always the same:
- Go to webapps.dolgen.net/dgme2 and log in as usual with your 8 digit Employee ID and password.
- From your dashboard, look for the Schedule or Workforce option.
- Selecting it hands you over to Legion automatically, and your week opens in a calendar layout showing every assigned shift.
- Choose any shift on the calendar to check its timing and the role you are scheduled for.
Because you never leave the official Dollar General environment at any point, this route also protects your credentials from lookalike login pages. For the complete schedule walkthrough, see our DGME schedule guide.
What about the Legion mobile app?
There is a Legion Workforce Engagement app in the App Store and Google Play, published by Legion Technologies. Some Dollar General employees use it for quick schedule checks. During setup the app asks for your organization before your login details.
If the app does not accept your details or keeps returning to the login screen, do not keep retrying, since repeated failed attempts can lock your account. Open the DGME portal in your phone browser instead, which reaches the same schedule. Remember that the official Dollar General employee app is Workvivo, which shows your schedule but keeps the full tools like time off requests and shift swaps inside Legion. Our DGME app guide explains the difference.
How to request time off
- Open Legion through the DGME portal.
- Go to the Time Off or Availability menu.
- Select the dates you need and add a note if required.
- Submit and wait for manager approval.
Submit requests as early as possible. Managers build schedules in advance, and late requests are harder to approve.
How to update your availability
- Open your profile or the Availability section inside Legion.
- Mark the days and shift times you can work.
- Save the changes.
Your manager sees this when building future schedules. Keeping it current reduces scheduling conflicts before they happen.
How to pick up open shifts
Some stores post unclaimed shifts on an Open Shifts board inside Legion. Review the available shifts, claim one that fits, and wait for manager confirmation if your store requires approval.
Fix common Legion problems
| Symptom | Most likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Legion will not load after DGME login | Browser cache or old browser | Clear cache, switch to Chrome or Edge |
| Schedule looks empty | Manager has not published the week yet | Check back later or confirm with your manager |
| Login loop on the app | App setup or sync issue | Use the DGME portal in your browser instead |
| New employee cannot see Legion | Onboarding not complete in the system | Ask your manager to confirm your record is active |
| Account locked | Too many wrong attempts | Wait, then reset your DGME password |
If nothing works, call HR Shared Services at 1-855-275-3447 (Mon to Fri, 8am to 5pm CST) or speak with your store manager.
Legion is not the only Dollar General system employees mix up. See our guide on what DG Mobility is and how it differs from DGME.
Frequently asked questions
Is Legion the same as DGME?
No. DGME is the employee portal for HR, pay and personal details. Legion is the scheduling system connected to it. You reach Legion through your DGME login.
Do I need a separate Legion account?
No. Your DGME Employee ID and password are all you need. There is no separate Legion registration for Dollar General employees.
Why can I not see my schedule in Legion?
The most common reason is that your manager has not published the week yet. If the problem continues, clear your browser cache or confirm with your manager that your account is active.
Can I request time off in the Workvivo app?
Workvivo shows your schedule, but time off requests and shift swaps live in Legion, which you open through the DGME portal.
Is Legion safe to use?
Yes. Legion is a professional workforce platform used by large retailers. Just make sure you always start from the official DGME portal and never enter your login on a lookalike site.
